Uk Based Tef Co Striving For Success
Posted on May 5, 2006
Tef-Co are a London based hip hop group and are emerging in the UK via radio stations, built upon their large loyal following.
Rebel Musik is the brand new track from one of London's most exciting crews, Tef-Co, featuring one of Reggae's legends, Luciano. The track is already receiving specialist airplay on Radio 1, Choice FM, 1XTRA, Kiss FM, XFM and many other commercial and community stations across the UK, Europe and America. The spectacular video was instantly playlisted on MTV Base, Channel U and Homechoice (cable service) and is soon to be on many other channels. It looks set to be one of the crossover anthems of 2006!
Teflon Coalition (Tef-Co) was formed in the late nineties when - Big Fize, Blaze-I and Trojah - realised they shared the same musical ambition. Whilst they were raised in the UK, the group has managed to keep their cultural ties alive through their music. Tef's influences therefore range from African/ Arabic to Motown/ Reggae and Hip Hop. They have a distinctly unique rapping style, skillfully bringing their own ideas and experiences to the 'urban' music arena.
Tef-Co have built up a following in both the UK and in Europe thanks to the support of overseas radio stations such as Skyrock FM, France's biggest urban station, and through their energetic performances in clubs ( Club Aura, and Man Ray, Paris), bars (Hard Rock Café, London) and universities across the country. They have also blessed many radio mics on community, internet and commercial radio stations (BBC radio, Déjà vu fm, Xstreameast FM, Newstyle FM, Galaxy FM, Flava FM, Hot 92 and Riverside FM to name but a few).
Tef-Co 's new single, Rebel Musik, features none other than Reggae superstar Luciano himself. Cited as 'perhaps the most universally revered, iconic figure to emerge in reggae over the past decade' ( Reggae Reviews), the Jamaican-born 'Reggae Prince' has often been cited as the most important conscious Reggae artist since Bob Marley. His entry into the UK music scene began with his hits Chant Out and Poor And Simple off his 1993 album Moving Up which was soon followed by his first UK Reggae Number 1 Shake It Up Tonight and a deal with Island Records. In the years that followed Luciano has been releasing international hits and built up a huge fanbase across the world whilst maintaining his grass roots following in Jamaica.
"What more can I say that Luciano doesn't on the bad bwoy hook?" Mistajam, 1Xtra

"Tef-Co featuring none other than Luciano himself? That's big we're feeling that! It's gonna get rewinds!" Rodney P and Skitz , BBC 1Xtra
