Posted on November 17, 2006 by

Virgin Records America is pleased to announce the signing of rap icon, Bizzy Bone. Imperial Records, the urban label and artist
development unit of Caroline/EMI Music will market and promote the new album in conjunction with Virgin Records. Produced by After Platinum Records, the rapper's first album for Virgin is entitled A Song For You and will be released in early 2007. This is the first time in Bizzy Bone's career that he has ever been signed to
a major label.

"After Platinum and Bizzy Bone are both very excited to have joined with Imperial Records and Virgin Records for Bizzy's major label debut," says After Platinum CEO Ernie Romero. "A Song For You is the breath of fresh air that so many fans have been gasping for. It’s official: He's back, and better than ever!"

Adds Jeff Kempler, EVP of Virgin Records: "We are delighted to be working with After Platinum and Neil Levine's Imperial Records on Bizzy's truly remarkable album. From 'Thuggish Ruggish Bone,' to 'Tha Crossroads' to ‘1st of Tha Month' and Heaven'z Movie, Bizzy has consistently amazed music fans with his distinctive voice, powerful lyrics, and blazing delivery. His new album will absolutely satisfy the existing fans and attract a whole new legion of followers."

Imperial Records is headed by urban music veteran Neil Levine, who will spearhead the marketing and promotion efforts for the album. Neil Levine says, “Working with a true visionary like Bizzy is a dream come true. Bizzy has made a truly amazing record that both Imperial and Virgin Records are ecstatic to be involved with. This record will firmly cement his place in hip hop history.”

Even though Bizzy has split from Bone Thugs-N-Harmony to pursue his solo career he wishes his former group good luck. Bizzy says, “It’s all love with Bone Thugs. I love and support what they’re doing. If they ever need anything I’m right here to
deliver. I wish them much success, peace and prosperity as they are much deserving and I’m certain they reciprocate the same feelings for me.”

Bizzy Bone first came to hip-hop prominence in 1993 as a founding member of Cleveland-based crew Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. Bizzy’s unique high-speed raps and laid-back singing style helped propel the quintet to become one of the best-selling hip-hop groups of all time, with 40 million albums sold worldwide and
a Grammy award for Best Rap Performance for their 1996 double-platinum single “Tha Crossroads.”

Bizzy launched a highly successful solo career in 1998 with the platinum Heaven’z Movie and the gold-certified The Gift in 2001, followed by 2004’s Alpha Omega and The Beginning and the End, and 2005’s For the Fans and Speaking in Tongues.
Over the course of his career, Bizzy has collaborated with such hip-hop legends as Notorious B.I.G., 2Pac, and the late Eazy-E, and collected numerous honors, including an ASCAP Award, the Michael Jackson Soul Train Award, a Blockbuster Award, an American Music Award, and the NAACP - Back To School/Stay in School Youth Rally Award.
