Cassidy released from prison on parole

Posted on March 4, 2006 by

Rapper Cassidy was released from Philadelphia's Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility on 2nd March and will remain on parole until further notice.

Cassidy had previously been convicted of involuntary manslaughter following a shooting, which left 22 year old Desmond Hawkins dead, as well as two counts of aggravated assault and possession of an instrument of crime.

Back in June 2005, the rapper turned himself in, despite the fact he had just released his sophomore LP "I'm a Hustla" and remained in jail ever since. Representatives for the rapper say they are unaware of his immediate plans, although, Swizz Beatz told MTV in January that he would be recording songs with the producer after he has spent some time with his family.

In January Cassidy released a statement saying, "While I am pleased that I was cleared of the murder charges, my satisfaction is not long lasting, because of the death of someone who I considered to be my friend, Des Hawkins. And while I am eager to resume my career as a recording artist, writer and performer, I am also eager to be reunited with my family, friends and fans."
