DJ Lt Dan announces return with Ecks
Posted on March 2, 2006
After being conspicuously absent from the genre, which he had a hand in creating, Lt. Dan is poised to return the crown of the remix genre to its rightful place, atop his head. While Lt. Dan admits he has at times been denied the credit he deserves in creating the mashup/ remix craze in Hiphop, with such projects as Lt Dan Presents The Black Album (the very first black album remix) and his genre redefining effort King of What’s Poppin with Michael Jackson, Dan simply retorts: ”I was the first DJ to do a lot of things I didn’t get credit for” and confidently promises to keep it moving in the new year.
Lt. Dan has plucked up street poet Ecks (formerly know as Professor Ecks) for his first effort, a project called Rebuilding. Ecks is known by many for his early work with KRS-One as well his 2005 single Ski Mask Music which set records on East Coast college radio circuits. When asked why he selected Ecks for his come back project Dan answers: ”No one in the mainstream is really bringing anything new, but Ecks is one of those hungry MC’s whose always bringing his “A” Game.
Rebuilding features over 15 exclusive tracks including appearances from Sly Boogy, St. Laz of Pottersfield and Balance, as well as original mashups featuring Lupe Fiasco, Nas & Royce da 5’9. Rebuilding drops March 21.
