Lil Wayne Tha Carter Iii Sells 423000 Copies

Hugely anticipated album Tha Carter III by rapper Lil Wayne has took the music world by storm shifting an amazing 423,000 on its very first day! The album was officially released on Tuesday, but has already amassed a huger number of sales, despite fears of bootlegging and leaks. The album is expected to top the album chart this week, holding off competition from the likes of Janet Jackson, Usher and Mariah Carey. The album is also being compared to Kanye West's Graduation in terms of success, an album which sold 957,000 copies in the space of a single week, last year.

The Carter III is also expected to be the album which catapults Lil Wayne to full-blown stardom, whilst quite conceivably holding top positions on both the album chart and singles chart, where his single Lollipop has been for several weeks. His last two albums, "Tha Carter" and "Tha Carter II," sold 1.1 million and 1.4 million copies, respectively. On the chart, there will also be notable releases including NERD and Plies.
