Master P Abandons Name To Become P Miller
Posted on August 13, 2008 by Jamie Slaughter
Master P has been in the rap game for almost fifteen years, and has now decided to close an era and abandon the name which brought him such success. In an effort to coincide with his efforts as a businessman he will now go by the name P. Miller, as he looks to expand in the industry.
"I'm changing my name because Master P is who I used to be," the No Limit Entertainment CEO explains. "I call it my childhood, and P. Miller marks my manhood. There are a lot of people out there, who are afraid to grow up and change, but I'm not and P. Miller is the evolution of me, Percy Miller, the entrepreneur, the businessman."
Miller received a lot of recognition in 2007 as he addressed the Unite States Congress regarding the criticism of Hip-Hop culture and associated lyrics. Shortly after this event, he and his son Romeo began their own profanity-free record label, named Take A Stand Records. Miller also signed a deal with Wal-Mart as a distributor for his P. Miller Designs clothing range, selling affordable clothing to a mass market.
"I've branched out into so many different arenas, but all that gets overshadowed because I come from the Hip-Hop industry," says the multi-platinum artist. "People grow mentally and spiritually through life experiences, but when you come from Hip-Hop, it's almost impossible to get past the stereotypes associated with it."
