Taco Bell Pays For 50 Cent Advertising Campaign
Posted on November 24, 2009
50 Cent and fat-food chain Taco Bell have arrived at an out-of-court agreement, following the chain using 50's name to promote their tacos on their value menu without permission from the rapper.
50 sued Taco Bell for $1 million in damages back in June 2008, after a campaign which offered 50 Cent $10,000 to alter his name from 50 Cent to 79 Cent, 89 Cent or 99 Cent for a single day.
The following month, the food chain was sued for using his name and likeness without permission, and for making him the "star of a nationwide campaign" without expressed consent.
Both parties finally arrived at a private agreement yesterday (November 23rd) according to 50's lawyers. 50 believed that he would be successful in the battle, issuing a statement late in June 2008.
"When my legal team is finished with them, Taco Bell is going to have a new corporate slogan: 'We messed with the bull and got the horns," the rapper said in a statement.
